Kentucky Voices for Health Jodi Mitchell Director

Hear from Jodi Mitchell, the Director of Kentucky Voices for Health, a coalition of consumers and pro- viders dedicated to improving the health of Kentuck- ians. Ms. Mitchell will share some Kentucky Voices for Health priorities and initiatives, and discuss the implementation of health reform in Kentucky. She will also discuss the coalition’s Managed Care principles.

Update on HIT Implementation and Interoperability Michael McNeely Flex Coordinator Office of Rural Health Policy

Mr. McNeely is a leading expert in Health Information Technology implementation in rural health communi- ties. Mr. McNeely will discuss the challenges and suc- cesses of rural health care providers in achieving meaningful use. He will also provide an update on the overall progress of the program.

Compliance Scenarios – You Be the Judge Rene Savaris, JD Hall Render Killian Heath and Lyman

Ms. Savaris will provide a multi-faceted presentation on compliance hot topics. She will use case studies to involve the audience in deciding how to manage/ respond to compliance issues. Topics will include dis- closure; federal sentencing guidelines; billing issues; Stark, Kickback and False Claim Act changes; and other topics.

Join Mr. West to hear about efforts to promote workforce development and the impact on rural com- munities. Specifically, Mr.West will share about initia- tives to increase health care providers in rural set- tings.

Dr. White, a practicing dentist, will share about the key to providing the best customer service in health care. He will also describe the importance of a team approach in achieving success in patient satisfaction.

Health Care Literacy Jane Bryant Patient Education Librarian/Plain Language Special- ist University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center

This session will provide attendees an overview of unique needs of patients with language barriers and resources available to promote effective communica- tion of health care information.
