Question of the Week: How do I “Starch” a Project?

You’ve just finished a lovely lace doily or dresser scarf, or have crocheted a gorgeous snowflake. To show if off to its best, you need to stiffen it somehow. How do you do this?? Simple! Mix 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup water in a heavy saucepan. Heat slowly on medium to dissolve. Allow to cool slightly, submerge project into solution, gently squeeze, and wipe off excess. Pin or form to desired shape. Allow to dry thoroughly and you’re done! This method will not yellow, and can be washed out and re-done if desired.
