Agriculture Pattern of the district
About 22 % percent of the geographical area is available for cultivation. About 65% percent of the total cultivable area in the district is irrigated.
Canal is the major source of irrigation, which accounts for 53350 Ha irrigation.(35% approx.) by tube-wells 38600 Ha (25%),by wells 12250 Ha(8%) and by rivers 10200 Ha(7%) and by ponds 1300Ha(1%).
Wheat is the most important food grain grown in the district.
Mustard is the most important oil seed grown in the district.
Major kharif crops are Bazara and Soyabean.
