On Saturday, April 3 at 1507 hours, the Le Mars Police Department responded to an accident that occurred in the Hy Vee Food Store parking lot.
Nathan Douglas Irwin, age 16 of Le Mars, was backing out of parking stall toward the northeast in a 2008 Ford pickup. Laura Jones, age 25 of Brunsville, had backed out of a parking stall and proceeded westbound in a 2005 Chevy Malibu. Irwin did not see Jones’ vehicle and, as a result, the rear of Irwin’s vehicle struck the left front corner of Jones’ vehicle.
There were no injuries and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
Irwin’s vehicle did not sustain any damage. Jones’ vehicle sustained approximately $1200 damage.
On Monday, April 5 at 1915 hours, the Le Mars Police Department responded to an accident that occurred in the Jackson Recovery parking lot on Lincoln St SE.
Gina McNabney, age 15 of Le Mars, was backing from a parking stall in a 1998 Chevy Lumina registered to Mandy Staab of Remsen when she observed a large delivery vehicle coming towards her. McNabney decided to pull ahead back into the parking stall at which time the right front of the vehicle struck the left side of a parked vehicle belonging to Brenna Alicia Koedam of Orange City.
There were no injuries.
Staab’s vehicle sustained approximately $1000 damage. Koedam’s vehicle sustained approximately $2000 damage.
McNabney was cited for Failure to Have Driver’s License.
On 04-05-2010 around 1530 hours, Officers stopped a vehicle for not having a front license plate. The driver, Ambier Arana, age 29 of Le Mars, was driving the vehicle. She is suspended for non-payment of Iowa fines. She was cited for that violation and for no proof of insurance. She was cited and released.
On 04-10-2010 around 1745 hours, Bret Woodman, age 35 of Le Mars was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be revoked in Iowa. He was cited for the violation and a valid driver came to the scene to drive the vehicle.
On 04-11-2010 around 0100 hours, Officers were called to the 10 blk of Central Ave SE due to an intoxicated person passed out on the sidewalk. Jose Silva-Martinez, age 45 of Le Mars, was taken into custody and jailed on a charge of public intoxication 8th offense.
