On Thursday, April 15 at 1955 hours, the Le Mars Police Department responded to an accident that occurred in the 100 block of 12th St SW.

Bailey Nicole Murphy, age 16 of Le Mars, was westbound on 12th St SW in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, when she lost control of the vehicle due to equipment failure. As a result, Murphy’s vehicle sideswiped a brick enclosed mailbox positioned along the roadway, jumped the north curb, and struck a street sign post.

There were no injuries and the driver was wearing her seatbelt.

Murphy’s vehicle sustained approximately $4000 damage. The mailbox sustained approximately $500 damage. The street sign post sustained approximately $200 damage.

Murphy’s vehicle was towed by Mayrose Body Shop.

04-22-2010

On Thursday, April 22 at 1215 hours, the Le Mars Police Department responded to an accident that occurred in the 800 block of 3rd Ave SW.

Perla Quintanilla, age 16 of Le Mars, was backing out of a parking stall against traffic to head north in a 2004 Chevy Cavalier and failed to see the U.S. Postal Service vehicle parked on the roadway. As a result, Quintanilla’s right rear bumper struck the left side of the Postal Service’s vehicle.

There were no injuries and the driver was wearing her seatbelt.

Quintanilla’s vehicle sustained approximately $200 damage. The U.S. Postal Service’s vehicle sustained approximately $1000 damage.
