Roll vs. Sheet: Where welded wire fabric is noted on the drawings, roll stock may be used in all applications where the thickness of concrete to be reinforced is greater than 2" above top of steel deck or flat surface. Where the thickness is 2" or less only flat sheet stock is permitted.
Chairs, spaces, supports and similar devices of size and number conforming to the recommendation of the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institutes "Specifications for Placement Accessories". Accessories shall be heavy gauge, sufficiently sturdy to properly suppoli and fasten reinforcement in place.
Part 3 EXECUTION
Store reinforcing steel by blocking above ground and protect from mud, ice and snow.
In all cases, bend reinforcing bars cold. Do not heat. No field bending will be allowed.
Reinforcing, before being installed in the fOlms, shall be free of oil, paint, loose mill or rust scale. Reinforcing shall be free of mud, concrete from previous pours or any other foreign material. Clean concrete off reinforcing as necessary with wire brushes before placing concrete.
Accurately position reinforcing in strict accordance with the Drawings and approved shop drawings. Hold in position with accessories, wire ties and clips. All reinforcing steel within the limits of a day's placement shall be in place and firmly wired at least 12 hours before concreting.
Splice top beam reinforcing at midspan and bottom beam reinforcing at suppOlis unless noted otherwise on Drawings. Splices of slab reinforcement other than shown on the Drawings are not permitted. Splice reinforcing bars 32 bar diameters minimum and in no case less than 16 inches, unless noted otherwise on Drawings. Provide #5 corner bars at least 24" O.c. with 2'0" legs at all footings, wall and beam comers and at intersections unless noted otherwise on Drawings.
