temperature at the same frequency as slump tests. Slump tests also to be taken before and after the addition of superplasticizer and documented "before" and "after". Cylinder samples and tests results will be rejected if water has been added to mix after slump test and casting of test cylinders. Core tests of concrete with questionable strength shall be done in accordance with UBC Standard 26-10 and paid for by Contractor.
Part 2 MATERIALS
ASTM C-lS0, Type I andlor Type II. White cement for white concrete.
Water used as an ingredient in concrete shall be clean, potable and free from
injUl10us amounts of foreign materials.
AGGREGATES AND SAND
Normal weight aggregates:
ASTM C-33. Use light colored aggregate for white concrete.
AIR ENTRAINING AGENTS
Water reducing, retarding and accelerating: ASTM C-494. Do Not add calcium chloride unless specifically approved by the Architect and in accordance with ASTM D-98 and in no case greater than 2% by weight of cement. Do Not use calcium chloride when concrete is to be placed in contact with galvanized steel or prestressing steel. Admixtures are to be added at the site, not at the batch plant, unless the admixture manufacturer specifically recommends otherwise.
