    • 2.12

      WATERSTOPS

      • A.

        Shall be of pre-molded polyvinyl chloride, as approved by Architect.

Part 3 - EXECUTION

    • 3.01

      PRE-PLACEMENT WORK

      • A.

        Debris: Verify that forms are completely free of debris, snow mud, etc.

      • B.

        Bracing: Brace all walls and other concrete work against lateral loads such as wind and earth pressure until concrete has cured and until the supporting floor or roof diaphragms are in place.

      • C.

        Work by Others: Verify that work of all other trades is complete including all necessary inserts, conduit, pipe, sleeves, hangers, metal ties, shelf angle supports, anchors, dowels, thimbles, reglets, nailing strips and all other fastening devices. Secure these items in position before concrete is poured and maintain and protect until concrete placement is complete. Sleeves in floor slabs shall extend above finish to prevent water from leading down and around the slceves.

      • D.

        Verify Reinforcing: Verify that reinforcing is complete and securely held in proper position.

    • 3.02

      BATCHING AND MIXING

      • A.

        Except as otherwise specified concrete may be ready-mixed or job-mixed at Contractor's option.

      • B.

        Ready-Mixed Concrete

        • a.

          Conform to ASTM C-94. Concrete must be discharged within liz hours after the introduction of cement to water or aggregate, unless the specified slump can be obtained without additional water.

        • b.

          Ready-mixed concrete producer shall furnish duplicate delivery tiekets with each load of concrete delivered to the project, indicating delivery date and time dispatched, name and location of project, name of Contractor, name of ready-mixed concrete producer, number of tmck, cubic yards of concrete in load, class of concrete, maximum size of aggregate and amount of water added at the job. (Water shall not be added after slump test or casting of test cylinders.)

  • C.

    Job-Mixed Concrete:

    • a.

      Mix in accordance with the requirements of the American Concrete Institute Building Code 318-77.

    • b.

      Keep mix as dryas possible to work using a standard type of batch mixer. Measure sand and aggregate in gated hoppers. Do not use air-slaked cement or cement which is lumpy, whatever the cause. 4
