additional concrete or other cernentious finishing materials are to be bonded, not on surfaces on which such curing is prohibited by the Specifications.
C. Final Curing: Immediately following the initial curing and before the concrete has dried, additional curing shall be accomplished by one of the following materials or methods:
Continuing the method used in Initial Curing.
Sheet Materials confonning to "Sheet Material for Curing Concrete" (ASTM C-171)
Specified curing compound or other moisture-retarding coverings as approved by the Architect.
Duration of Curing:
The final curing shall continue for 7 consecutive days. Ifhigh early strength concrete has been used, the final curing shall continue for a total of 3 days. Rapid drying at the end of the curing period shall be prevented.
Fonned Surfaces: Steel fonns heated by the sun and all wood fonns in contact with the concrete during the final during period, shall be kept wet. If fonns are to be removed during the curing peliod, one of the above curing materials or methods shall be employed immediately. Such curing shall be continued for the remainder of the curing period.
Use oflengths of waterstop material as long as practicable, so that the number of joints will be held to a minimum. Install with joints and intersections made in a manner most appropriate to the waterstop system, and so that the joints develop effective water tightness fully equal to that of the continuous waterstop materials. Joints shall develop a minimum of 50% of the mechanical strength of the parent section and pennanently retain flexibility.
