    • C.

      Tempered Glass: ASTM C-l 048. Provide prime glass, which has been heat treated to strengthen glass in bending to not less than 4.5 times annealed strength; 3/16" thick mmlmum.

      • 2.02

        GLAZING MATERIALS

  • A.

    Select glazing sealants and tapes of proven compatibility with other materials with which they will come into contact. Comply with recommendations for sealant and glass manufacturers for selections of glazing sealants and tapes, which have performance characteristics suitable for applications indicated.

  • B.

    Provide manufacturer's standard chemically curing, elastomeric sealant of base polymer indicated, which complies with ASTM C-920 requirements. Provide color of exposed sealants, as selected by Architect.

  • C.

    Neoprene, EPDM or silicone blocks, 80 to 90 Shore A durometer hardness, setting blocks and spacer shims; glazing splines; etc. to suit installation. Cleaners, primers and sealers.

PART 3

EXECUTION

3.01 PREPARATION

Clean contact surfaces with solvent and wipe dry. Apply primer or sealant to surfaces, where recommended. Place setting blocks at 1/3 point and install glass.

    • 3.02

      INSTALLATION

      • A.

        Install removable stops with glass centered in space by inserting spacer both sides at 2 foot intervals 1;4" below sightline. Fill gap between glass and stops with sealant to depth equal to bite of frame on glass, but not more than 3/8" below sightline. Apply sealant to uniform and level line, flush with sightline. Tool or wipe sealant surface with solvent for smooth appearance.

      • B.

        Protect glass from edge damage during handling and installation; use a rolling block in rotating glass units to prevent damage to glass corners. Do not impact glass with metal framing. Use suction cups to shift glass units within openings; do not raise or drift glass with a pry bar.

Install insulating glass in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.

  • D.

    Install tempered glass with roll wave distOltion parallel with bottom edge of glass.

    • 3.03

      CLEANING AND REPLACEMENT

Clean and trim excess glazing material from glass and stops. After installation, remove labels from surface. Remove droppings from finished surfaces. Wash and polish both faces immediately prior to Substantial Completion. Remove and replace glass, which is broken, chipped, cracked, abraded or damaged in any manner.
