Place acoustical insulation in partitions tight within spaces, around cut openings, behind and around electrical and mechanical items within or behind partitions, and tight to items passing through partitions.
Install acoustical sealant within partitions in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Install gypsum board in accordance with ASTM C840 and manufacturer's instructions.
Fasten gypsum board to furring or framing with screws.
Cutting: When cutting gypsum drywall is required, cut by scoring and breaking or by sawing, working from the face side.
Place control joints consistent with lines ofbuilding spaces as directed.
Treat cut edges and holes in moisture resistant gypsum board and any exterior gypsum soffit board with sealant.
Install metal edge bead whenever edge of gypsum board would otherwise by exposed or semi-exposed. Provide type with face flange to receive joint compound.
Use gypsum board with long length placed perpendicular to framing. Install all panels plumb and level. Locate end joints over framing supports. Do not install damaged or imperfect boards. Stagger joints over different studs on opposite sides of partitions.
Position board so that like edges abut. Butt boards together for light contact with not less than 1I16-inch space between them. Do not force into place.
Place comer beads at external comers, using the longest possible lengths. Use same fasteners to anchor trim as required to fasten boards. Install edge trim wherever edge would be exposed or semi-exposed. Use longest practical lengths. Place exposed trim wherc gypsum board abuts dissimilar materials.
Where sound rated drywall construction is indicated, seal construction at perimeters, control and expansion joints, openings and penetration with a continuous bead of acoustical sealant including a bead at both faces of patiitions. Close off sound flanking paths around or through construction.
Provide in accordance with GA 216. Apply gypsum board with No. 093 control joint stapled to face. Tape and finish as specified.
TAPING AND FINISHING
A. Tape, fill and sand exposed joints, edges, comers, openings and fixings to produce surface ready to receive surface finish. Apply treatment at joints between boards, trim accessories, penetrations, fastener depressions and elsewhere as required. Finish gypsum wallboard by applying joint compounds in three coats. Sand between coats and after last coat.
