Apply joint tape to reinforce joints fonned by papered or butt edges and at interior corners and angles. Set tape in joint compound and apply a skim coat of compound in one operation. Do not use finishing compound for setting of tape. Prefill joints over 1/16 inch in width. Allow prefill to dry before application ofjoint tape.
Reinforce external corners with corner bead securely fastened as recommended by the manufacturer. Use fasteners, which will be fully concealed by finishing operations. Provide edge trim in single lengths unless length exceeds manufactured length.
Do not use compounds if recommended pot life has expired. Do not exceed manufacturer's recommendations of the temperature and humidity levels at time of application.
Apply finishing compounds in three coats, allowing each to cure, and sand after each application. Feather coats onto adjoining surfaces so that camber is maximum 1I32-inch.
"Smooth" finish: Carefully sand the third coat to a unifonnly smooth surface completely free from irregularities visible to the unaided eye at a distance of five (5) feet.
A. Do not allow the accumulation of scraps and debris arising from the work of this section but maintain the premises in a neat and orderly condition at all times. In the event of spilling or splashing compound onto other surfaces, immediately remove the spilled or splashed material and all trace of the residue to the approval of the Architect.
