Section 02110

    • C.

      The Contractor shall remove all surface debris, sod, brush, dead wood and decayed vegetable matter from the ground surface in areas where excavation will occur or fill is to be placed.

    • D.

      The Contractor shall fill depressions caused by clearing and grubbing operations with satisfactory soil materials, unless further excavation or earthwork is required. Fill materials and compaction requirements shall be as specified in Section 02200: Earthwork.

      • 3.03

        TOPSOIL

    • A.

      The Contractor shall strip the topsoil to whatever depths encountered within the excavation and grading lines designated on the Contract Drawings. Do not mix topsoil with underlying subsoil and other objectionable material.

    • B.

      The Contractor shall stop the topsoil stripping a sufficient distance from such trees and vegetation designated to remain so to prevent damage to the main root system.

    • C.

      The Contractor shall stockpile only topsoil, which is suitable for reuse in an area clear of new construction as directed by the Architect. Maintain stockpiles in a manner, which does not obstruct the natural surface drainage. Topsoil suitable for reuse shall be reasonably free from subsoils, roots, heavy or stiff clay, stones larger than 2 inches, noxious weeds, sticks, brush, litter and other deleterious matter. The Contractor shall stockpile only that quantity of topsoil required for final landscaping, allowing for volume reduction upon compaction.

      • 3.04

        PROTECTION OF EXISTING TREES AND VEGETATION

    • A.

      The Contractor shall protect existing trees and vegetation designated to remain against cutting, breaking or skinning of roots, skinning and bruising of bark, smothering of trees by stockpiling the construction or excavated materials within the drip line, excess foot or vehicular traffic or parking of vehicles within the drip line.

    • B.

      The Contractor shall repair or replace trees and vegetation designated to remain that have been damaged by construction operation, in a manner acceptable to the Architect and at no expense to the Owner.

      • 3.05

        DISPOSAL

  • A.

    General:

    • 1.

      Remove brush, grass, roots, trash and other materials from clearing operations.

    • 2.

      Dispose of away from the site in a legal manner.

    • 3.

      Do not store or pennit debris to accumulate on the job site.

  • B.

    Do not bum debris at the site.
