EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION
Verify gradients and elevations of base.
Test to verify compacted subgrade and granular base is dry, ready to support paving and imposed loads.
Fill areas to contours and elevations using unfrozen materials.
Place Type A fill materials in continuous layers not exceeding 6 inches loose depth. Compacted depth at 6".
Compact in accordance with ASTM D1557.
Maintain optimum moisture content of fill materials to attain required compaction density.
Apply tack coat in accordance with manufacturers instructions.
Coat surfaces of manhole or catch basin frames with oil to prevent bond with asphaltic pavement.
Place asphalt within 24 hours of priming base surfaces. Place in single layer to 3 inch compacted thickness.
Compact pavement by rolling to achieve even and smooth finish, without roller marks. Hand compact in areas inaccessible to rolling equipment.
Apply seal coat to wearing course in accordance with State ofNew Mexico Highways standards.
Install bumpers by fastening with #6 Bars.
