PLASTIC PIPE AND FITTINGS
Plastic Pipe: All plastic pipe for intennittent pressure laterals shall be Schedule 40. PVC pipe shall be continuously marked with identification of the manufacturer, type, class, size, and shall conform to D 1785 for pipe and ASTM D 1784 for PVC compounds. Pipe shall be produced in 20-foot lengths. Pipe shall be free of holes, foreign material, blisters, wrinkles or dents.
PVC Fittings: Fittings on PVC lines shall be Schedule 40 PVC, Type 1, Cell Classification 12454-B, and shall comply with ASTM D 2466, D 2467, and D 1784.
Drip Tubing: Drip tubing shall be by brown PVC tubing, Y2 diameter, UV stable, compatible with Netafim Drip System.
Risers and Threaded Nipples: All threaded PVC nipples and risers shall be Schedule 80 PVC pipe as specified.
Cleaner, Primer, and Solvent Cements: Cleaner shall be Uni-Weld 7300 cleaner. Primer shall be Uni-Weld 8700 Hi-Etch purple primer meeting ASTM F-656. Solvent Cement shall be Uni-Weld 1600 gray, medium viscosity type for lateral lines; Uni Weld 1700 gray, heavy-duty viscosity type for main lines and laterals larger than 2 112" diameter. Or approved equivalent cleaner, primer and solvent system from a single manufacturer.
Sleeves: Sleeves shall be Class 160 PVC when under pedestrian used pavement. Schedule 40 PVC shall be used for sleeves under automotive or vehicle paving.
Valve boxes shall be Carson Industries Series 1730 or an approved equivalent.
Automatic Valves shall be as specified on the Drawings. No substitutions. Valves shall have a shock cone on the diaphragm seat, a flow control, and a manual bleed screw that bleeds valves to downstream. Valves shall be made of noncorrosive material. The valve shall open and close smoothly with low-pressure loss. The valve shall be installable at any angle and have a flow control and manual shutoff. The solenoid shall be 24 volts AC. 60 Hz and have a consumption rate not exceeding 3.3 watts. All valves shall be clearly tagged with a legible, pennanent, waterproof tag indicating the controller zone number.
