  • C.

    Balled and burlapped (B&B) plants shall be dug with firm, natural balls of earth, of a diameter and sufficient depth to include the fibrous and feeding roots. No plants will be accepted if the ball is cracked or broken before or during planting operations. Minimum acceptable standard for rootball size shall be 9 inches of root ball diameter for every 1 inch of caliper.

  • D.

    Roots or rootballs of all plants shall be adequately protected at all times from sun and/or drying winds. Balled and burlapped plants that cannot be planted immediately upon delivery or collection from the site shall be set on the ground and protected with soil, wet peat or other acceptable mulching material. Plants collected on-site and planted immediately after digging need not be burlapped.

  • E.

    Sealing tags will be removed on-site by the Contractor after given approval by the Landscape Architect or Owner oftheir acceptance. Trees with no tags may be subject to rejection as determined by the Landscape Architect.

  • F.

    Plants shall be pruned only on-site as directed by the Landscape Architect.

      PROTECTION AND CLEANING

      • A.

        During the installation and maintenance periods, protect planted areas against erosion and trespass. Any damaged planting shall be replaced by the Contractor at no cost to the Owner.

B. All walks and pavements shall be swept or washed clean upon completion of work in each section. Upon completion of all planting work, clean the portion of the project site used for storing planting materials and equipment of all debris, extra materials and equipment. All such materials and equipment shall be entirely removed from the project site.
