Attendance & Participation Policy

You must post one message each week to the Vista discussion board to record your attendance. There will be a given topic for you to dis- cuss. Each attendance post will be available Monday through Sunday.

You are expected to log into Vista a minimum of 3 days per week. All course updates will be given through Vista, so it is imperative that you log in regularly.

Violating the Attendance Policy: You will be withdrawn from this course for any of the following reasons:

  • miss 2 or more Attendance posts in Vista AND you are failing the course.

  • you are not logged into the MyMathLab portion of the course by the end of the 2nd week of the semes- ter.

  • do not take Test 1 and Test 2.

If you are withdrawn from this course, you will also be withdrawn from all collegiate courses you are taking.

Vista Course Calendar

The official course calendar is located in Vista. It contains a suggested study schedule as well as the availability & due dates for exams, quizzes, and homework.

Click the Calendar icon on the toolbar in Vista to access the calendar. Once in the Cal- endar, click on the numerical date to view more detailed information.

I used a MWF schedule to pace your studies, but naturally you can complete the mate- rial on TR, MTW, SU, or any combination that works for you. The important thing is that you complete the sections in a timely manner so that you are prepared to complete your quizzes and exams by the specified due dates. Pace yourself so that you are not overwhelmed and do not fall behind.

Print a copy of the calendar so that you can refer to it offline. To print, click the Calendar icon in your Vista course, se- lect the Create Printable View. Set the start date to Jan 7th and the end date to May 9th. Make certain to update your printed copy if modifications are made to the calendar during the semester.

Makeup Work

Technical Difficulties

Quite simply, makeup work is nei- ther given nor accepted. If you sub- mit an assignment after it is due, you will be given a grade of “0” for the assignment. The availability of the assign- ments and their due dates are listed in the Vista course calendar. It is your responsi- bility to check the Vista cal- endar and to turn in your work on time. Due dates will NOT be extended because of technical diffi- culties. You will have at least 1 week to complete each assign- ment. Do not wait until the last minute to complete an assign- ment in case a technical problem should arise! “It is your responsibility to check the Vista calendar and to turn in your work on time.” If your home PC is inoperable, you should utilize an appro- priate GPC computer lab, library, or another appropriate location. MyMathLab plug-ins are needed to complete online homework.

If Vista is unavailable for an extended period of time, please check my GPC website for instruction.

If MML is unavailable, you may complete your homework assignments at http://www.mathxl.com/mmllogin.htm.
