Taking Steps Scale

Figure 26 displays the median taking steps scale scores with the interquartile range from the SOCRATES drug form. There was a trend of increasing scores for most cases, and increases in scores became increasingly apparent at the 50th and 25th percentiles between the second and third assessment intervals. A Friedman’s Test was conducted to test the hypothesis that program participants will increasingly initiate and maintain actions aimed toward changing their drug use. Referring to Table 12, the trend of increasing scores in the taking steps scale from the SOCRATES drug form across all three assessment intervals was statistically signifi- cant. Step down analyses (Stevens, 1996) using a series of five Wilcoxon-Signed Rank Tests were conducted with the result that SOCRATES taking steps scale scores increased signifi- cantly only between the first and fifth assessment intervals.
