6.3.3 3-D GEOLOGICAL MODEL – STAR KIMBERLITE

A 3-D geological model of the Star Kimberlite was compiled by Shore from surface and underground drill information combined with 1,050 density measurements. The 3-D geological model, as created in October, 2006, estimated that the Star Kimberlite (including both Star and Star West kimberlite) contained a total of 275.80 million tonnes of kimberlite.

The 3D geological model was updated in November, 2007 by a team of geologists from Shore, Howe and SRK Consulting (“SRK”) using Gemcom software. The updated database contained an additional 157 surface and underground holes and a further 1,635 in-situ bulk density measurements. Limited deep drilling restricts the 3D modelling of the Star Kimberlite to the kimberlite above the 350 metre level.

The updated geological model estimated that the Star Kimberlite contained a total of approximately 278 million tonnes of kimberlite, as detailed in Table 6.3. The three dimensional view of the Star Kimberlite geological model is shown in Figure 6.6.
