Unconfined Compressive Strength (“UCS”) tests recorded axial force, axial deformation and circumferential deformation variables to generate UCS along with Young’s Modulus and Poisson’s ratio. The UCS values were also variable with a median of 21.1 MPa. The UCS data indicates weak average kimberlite compressive strength which means there will be less power draw in crushers or autogenous mills. The Young’s modulus median for the Star Kimberlite was 7.64 GPa with quite variable results. The Young’s and Poisson’s results indicate a weak rock type which will deform under load whilst maintaining integrity. All the Star Kimberlite ore dressing data indicates the amenability of the kimberlite to autogenous milling for diamond liberation.
