Ray:  Is that right?

Payne:  Yes.

Ray:  Marguerite.  That was his sister?

Payne:  That’s right.  Yes.

Ray:  I knew who they were but I didn’t know them personally.

Payne:  Yes.  Well, that’s part of my family.

Ray:  OK.  Well, that makes it interesting.

Ray:  Where did Marguerite work?  She worked at the courthouse didn’t she?

Payne:  When she graduated from high school, she worked at the courthouse and she … in order to make money for her family because it was the depression.  Her father built houses and people weren’t building houses.  And then she moved to Jackson and she ended up working as an auditor for the IRS.  She was pretty smart.

Ray:  Yes, she was . . . he was too.

Payne:  Yes he was and so, that was their history.  Mr. Rutherford died in 1977.

Ray:  Is that right?

Payne:  Yes.

Ray:  They’d pass me house everyday.  He’d pick up his sister at the court house and go home.  So, I saw them everyday.

2:30   Payne:  Really?  Where were you living then?

Ray:  On main street.

Payne:  I see.  So, you came here in 1932 to live near the Rodgers and so you and Betty are cousins?

Ray:  Yes.

Payne:  First cousins?
