A recently revived proposal in the Senate would give FDA new funding and authority to inspect plants that make prescription drugs and medical devices
Legislation introduced in late April by Senators Charles Grassley and Edward Kennedy would authorize FDA:
To collect inspection fees from companies
To issue subpoenas or detain products when inspectors believe a
product is adulterated or misbranded
