Coach’s Thoughts: “New Year, Same Dream.”

I am often asked two specific questions, “Have the players changed over the years and why do you stay in the coaching profession for so long ?” As we begin a new season in Lady Greyhound history, I thought I would answer those two questions.

Everyone knows we lost a lot of players from last year’s team, along with the points , rebounds, steals, and assists. The players have changed in terms of physical nature, bigger, stronger, and faster. This year’s team is just as passionate, diverse, funny, and a pleasure to coach as any team I have coached. This year’s motto is “New Year, Same Dream”, and the players on this team are eager to prove it.

I think the reason I have stayed in coaching, and stayed at Mora- vian specifically, is because of the change in teams each year and the challenge each season brings. This year will be a challenge to our coaching staff and the players on this team. We want to let everyone know that we have some talented players and we will strive to win an- other championship. As a coach, I know that a challenge only becomes a reality with hard work and commitment. This year’s team possesses both those qualities, work ethic and dedication, we accept the challenge of striving for back to back Landmark Championships.

I hope to see many of you in the stands during the 2010-11 season.

As in the past few years at this year’s alumni game we will be honoring a special group of Lady Greyhounds. In the 32 seasons that Moravian has fielded a women’s basketball team in the modern era, 21 women have eclipsed the 1000 point plateau. We will be honoring these players at the Alumni Game and reception at Starter’s Riverport on Saturday February 5, 2011. The game will be held at 12noon with the varsity game against Goucher College at 2pm. Another added bo- nus to the day’s activities is that it will also be our Pink Zone game where last season we raised the most money in Div III for breast cancer research. Please mark on your calendar now. More information will be sent out in January with details about the day. We look forward to seeing many of you in February.
