The women’s basketball team at Moravian is always looking for opportunities to give back to the community. Along with our annual Pink Zone game in which we raise money for breast cancer, the team participated in the Lehigh Valley Start Heart Walk for the second straight year. Benefitting the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk is a 2.4 mile walk aimed at raising awareness and funds for the American Heart Association. The chairmen for the Lehigh Valley walk were former NBA star Darryl Dawkins and local restaurateur and Moravian supporter, Dave Rank. To stand out from the crowd of thousands of walkers, the team decided to create tie-dyed t-shirts. They certainly looked bright and cheery on that beautiful sunny Sunday morning.
The 2010-11 players look great in their homemade tie-dyed t-shirts!
Europe 2011: Austria, Czech Republic, and Germany
Once again the women’s basketball team at Moravian will take to the skies and head to Europe next year for some international basketball and cultural experiences. This time we are not limiting ourselves to one country. We are going to make the most of our trip and visit the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria. Another change in our trip is the timing, in the previous trips, we have traveled in August. This time we are going in the end of May. One of the reasons for this is that throughout Europe August is the time that most people take vacations and the teams we would be playing may not have their best players available. We are excited to explore Prague, the “Golden City”; St. Stephen’s cathedral in Vienna; and experience an authentic Hof- brauhaus in Munich. Fundraising efforts are underway and if you would like to donate to the team for this one of a kind opportunity for this team go to this website www.donatetomyteam.com/GOMCBB Stay tuned for further updates as our trip nears.
