Examples of Progress Made in Meeting Objectives of the Citizen Review Panels, 2007
In consultation with county and state child protection staff, examine policies and procedures to ensure the protection of children.
Washington County Citizen Review Panel chair, Dani Horan, served on the statewide assessment advisory team with a broad range of state, county, tribal and community partners. This team assisted with the Child and Family Services Review’s pre-assessment by reviewing the department’s approach to analyzing data and their answers to the narrative items on the pre-assessment.
Examine the practices of the county and state child protection agencies to evaluate if children are protected from abuse and neglect.
Panel members in Chisago, Washington and Winona Counties continue to advise the county child protection agencies by reviewing requests for reconsideration of findings of maltreatment. Panel members in Washington County participated in 17 of these reviews in
In Ramsey County the panel members continue to assist with the Administrative Reviews of youth in long-term foster care.
Review the consistency of social work practice and compliance with stated policies.
Ramsey County panel members continued to monitor the implementation of recommendations of the Independent Living Skills (ILS) services from the Children’s Services Review Panel’s 2005 and 2006 annual reports.
Advocate for resources and make recommendations to resolve the disparity of the number of children of color involved in the child protection system.
The Ramsey County Children’s Services Review Panel received ongoing updates regarding Ramsey County Human Services Department’s progress in their efforts to end the disparity of the numbers of children and families of color involved in their child protection system.
Actively participate in the Child and Family Service Review (CFSR) process and in the preparation, review and monitoring of the Program Improvement Plan (PIP).
Panel members in Washington County participated in the stakeholders’ interviews during the federal Child and Family Service Review, held in Minnesota in September
Washington County was one of four counties in which cases were reviewed during the CFSR.
Washington County’s Panel members continue to review the quarterly county CFSR progress and statistics.
Chisago County panel members continue to monitor their county’s Program Improvement Plan (PIP).
The Program Improvement Plan (PIP) Committee of the Ramsey County Children’s Services Review Panel continues to monitor the work and implementation of Ramsey County Human Services Department’s PIP.
