Motion was made by Mr. Mitchell, seconded by Mr. Johnston, to approve the request of
Robert Stinson for a three-day special event beer permit for "Rally on the Red" to be held at
The Grill at Cash Point Landing, L.L.C., dba Tavern on the Red, on August 16, 17 and 18,
2001. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Jim Firth, Purchasing Manager, reported a substantial savings in long distance telephone
charges with the current primary rate service, as opposed to local option service. He further stated
that CenturyTel has advised that effective September 9, it will no longer be long distance to call
from Benton to Plain Dealing or from Plain Dealing to Benton.
Motion was made by Mr. Altimus, seconded by Mr. Darby, to schedule a Board of Tax
Review on September 19, 2001. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Dr. Shell, seconded by Mr. Darby, to approve a Memorandum of
Understanding with Louisiana State University in Shreveport in cooperation with the Red
River Watershed Management Initiative, and to authorize the President to execute said
document. Motion carried unanimously.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Bossier Parish Police Jury in regular and legal session on this 15th day of August, 2001, that Jesse Williams, President, be and is hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the Bossier Parish Police Jury, a Memorandum of Understanding with Louisiana State University in Shreveport in cooperation with the Red River Watershed Management Initiative.
The resolution was offered by Dr. Shell, seconded by Mr. Darby. Upon unanimous vote, it was duly adopted on this 15th day of August, 2001.
