A Sober Russia
WiTh The helP of members of our club (be- fore our club even existed), the center for the Preven- tion of Dangerous addic- tions among Youths, a not- for-profit organization, was founded. This organi- zation continues to func- tion with the support of the Sochi Rotary club. its work includes:
conducting lectures in
schools about prevention of drug abuse, teen preg- nancy, and alcoholism;
working with juvenile
criminals in centers and youth homes;
cal counseling to families dealing with drug abuse and alcoholism;
of methods for

The center's staff in- cludes around 15 full-time personnel. Today this pro- gram has spread to 26 cit- ies in Russia through close
cooperation with the Min- istry of education. Within the past three years, this program has reached over 6,000 students in the insti- tutions where children and young people study, receive rehabilitation, and spend their free time.

Helping children with disabilities
GOiNG to high school is one of the most impor- tant parts of a child's de- velopment. But what if a child isn't able to walk to school? What if a child is disabled?
in Russia there is an in- ternet educational program for children with physical disabilities. in order to use the program, a child must have a computer. But the parents of disabled chil- dren do not always have the means to procure the necessary equipment.
The Sochi Rotary club participates in a program
project and the check- points of life program for schoolchildren strive to reach every child and teen- ager with the message that life is valuable and a good career choice is important. These programs' mission is to spur young people to value their lives, to make plans for their futures, and to understand that they can lose all of this should they take the wrong path in life. it's easier to prevent drug addiction than to cure it. Join us in developing these programs in your city!

“each of us has a net- work of family and chil- dren. and at one point we started to think seriously about those families who are in a difficult situation and who we can help with our actions. and without getting caught up in poli- tics, but rather working in close cooperation with the education Department, we are able to do a good service for those who tru- ly need it,” explains the club's leader, alexander Sandulsky.
