Designers Joan Isisoma Okorodudu of the House of Jola and Lanre Da Silva- Ajayi teamed up with other designers to showcase an unforgettable set of collections from Nigeria. Ms. Okorodu- du has become an African fashion icon; she runs a successful modeling agen- cy and founded the popular television show Nigeria's Next Supermodel. Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi's collections of jackets, cocktail dresses, evening gowns and more are distinguished by an eclectic fusion of nostalgic elements from the 1940s, 50s, and 60s with modern ele- ments that are appealing to contem- porary women.
Couture Fashion Week’s finale includ- ed the delightful collection of Austra- lian designer Cristina Nitopi. The col- or palette and silhouettes of her luxu- ry designs are reminiscent of her Ital- ian heritage. Her creations are both elegant and modern, whether couture or ready-to-wear.
The next Couture Fashion Week event will be held September 10- 11-12, 2010 at the Waldorf-Astoria, New York City.
