An Annual Account registration fee of $35 per family is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable. ADDING/DROPPING A CLASS There is no refund for tuition due or paid in the month a class is dropped. If you have paid for the year, the tuition will be re-calculated at the monthly fee to determine any balance due or partial refund. Office/Staff members must be notified of dropping/adding a class. A written notice is required and must be turned in to our staff one month prior to withdrawing from a class. South Carolina Dance Company retains the right to keep the students enrollment status active and charge accordingly if withdrawl occurred prior to the notice being given.

REFUNDS There will be no refunds, deductions, or transfers for missed lessons regardless of reason. In the event a class is cancelled due to lack of minimum enrollment, the class may be combined with another class. Classes must contain a minimum of 5 students or the class will be cancelled or combined with another class. If we cancel a class entirely, a full-refund will be given.

CLASS PLACEMENT/REGISTRATION Students are placed in class on an individual basis (based upon age and ability) and will be advanced at the discretion of the instructor. Class placement will be carefully reviewed and evaluated by the teachers and director of the studio. Previous dance experience may or may not be considered in a placement evaluation. Registration is first-come, first-serve and is secured by payment of tuition and registration fee as well as a signed Waiver/Release. Poor attendance will have a direct result in placement advancement.

ATTENDANCE/ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP CLASSES Regular attendance in class is encouraged to ensure student’s progress. If a class is missed, students are encouraged to make up the absence at any regularly scheduled class of the same level. Students who continually miss class may not be eligible to participate in our annual Spring Show as the students learn new choreography each week and it is easy to fall behind when attendance is inconsistent. Students who need to leave early from class should notify the teacher before class begins. Discounts will not be given for students who miss a class.

CLASS ETIQUETTE Dance requires discipline so that training is a valuable activity. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Any disruptive behavior, use of profanity, or ridiculing of other students will result in immediate dismissal from the class. Students and parents must conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Students must follow dress code policies. Please call the studio if you are going to miss a class or arrive late. STUDENTS AREN’T ALLOWED TO USE CELL PHONES IN THE STUDIO. STUDENTS MAY USE THE STUDIO PHONE TO CALL PARENTS.

DRESS REQUIREMENTS/CODES Proper dance attire enables the student to fully participate in class and to maintain a disciplined attitude toward dance studies. Street wear and loose or baggy clothes such as sweatshirts, T-shirts, and soffee or non-dance shorts hinder the teacher's ability to monitor the student's muscular and skeletal development and are not to be worn during class. Proper dancewear for jazz, lyrical, clogging, tap, hip hop, etc. includes: tights (students will NOT be allowed in class if they aren’t wearing tights under shorts…..modesty is expected), leotards, unitards, bike shorts, leggings, form-fitting tops, proper black or tan jazz shoes, black tap shoes, pink ballet (leather) and dedicated hip hop sneakers/shoes. Hair must be secured away from face and neck (bun or pony tail).

ALL BALLET STUDENTS must wear a black leotard, pink tights, and Bloch/Capezio pink leather split sole ballet shoes. Hair must be in a tight and secure bun (please do not twist the hair in a rubberband). Please use hairnets and hairpins so the bun will create a neater appearance. Ballet waist belts in different colors will be available for purchase to all ballet students to signify their levels. For examples, Level I is white, Level II is yellow, Level III is green, Level IV is purple, and Level V is black. Pointe students may wear a dance skirt.

TERRIFIC 2’S and ballet/tap combo classes for ages 3-5 are required to wear solid colored leotards, pink tights, black tap shoes, and pink ballet shoes. Hair does not have to be in a bun, but pulled off of the face. Skirts are allowed.

NOTE: All students must wear cover up attire to and from the studio. Absolutely, no dance shoes to be worn outside. Please respect our policy as we feel modesty is very important for the safety of our dancers. Thank you

PLEASE no food or drinks are allowed in the dance rooms. ABSOLUTELY NO GUM CHEWING during class!

ARRIVAL FOR CLASS Arrange for students to arrive 5-10 minutes early for class so they have ample time to dress, put up their hair, and be ready to start class on time. Punctuality is important, as lack of proper warm-up time may result in injuries and late arrivals are disruptive to the class.

INSURANCE All students are required to be covered by their own insurance policies. If an injury occurs, it is understood that the student’s own policy is the only source of reimbursement. South Carolina Dance Company is not responsible for loss of any personal belongings.
