Take the 5000-Series of digital telephones. From the chemicals used to produce our components to the finish and exterior molding of our telephones, we’ve sourced greener alternatives and build
them into our processes. So you won’t find PVC (polyvinyl chlo- ride) or BFR (brominated flame retardants) in the surface plastics of this new telephone series. And the sleek, ergonomic look and feel of the telephones will appeal long into the future.
Internal audits and self-reporting create an open forum for evaluating where we are doing well, and where we need to improve. New targets are set and revised in response to challenges as well as successes. Our efforts are publicized in an annual report and communicated freely.
We’ve also beefed up the feature set while making the digital telephones more energy-efficient. In fact, it’s 10% more efficient than our last series of digital telephones, offering advanced features like an automatic sleep mode for the backlit display and lower energy usage overall.
What we learn along the way, we share with other members of the Toshiba divisions and our community at large, so that every day is a step closer to a greener future.
