From Your Principal ……….Linda King We are midway through our second grading period. Thank you for your continued support of your child‟s learning. We appreciate your help in ensuring that homework is completed each night. We also appreciate your support in having your child/children read for at least 20 minutes each night. We know that children who read daily become better readers!
Interim/progress reports will be sent out during the next two weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child‟s teacher.

The testing dates for the MSA (Maryland State Assessment) are March 7—16, 2011. All third, fourth, and fifth grade students will be involved in testing during this time. In addition, all second grade students will be involved in the TN/2 (Terra Nova Second Edition) April 4 - 8, 2011. Please help us by making sure your children are in school on time each day. If a student misses a test, the score is recorded as a “0” and counts against our school total. We ask that you not schedule any family trips, doctor‟s or dentist‟s appointments during this time.
Please remind your child (children) that following the rules on the bus is important for everyone‟s safety. Students should remain seated on the bus until it comes to a complete stop. Students also should keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times on the bus. Listening to the patrols and the bus driver is essential for a safe trip to and from school. We want all children who ride on the bus to have a safe and pleasant journey.
Our Mission At Goshen Elementary School, we come to school every day the Grizzly Bear way. We show our:
B: E: A: R:
Best Behavior Effective Effort Awesome Attitude Respect and Responsibility
Another reminder: Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather – which means warm coats for cold days. We are outside for recess most days so hats and gloves are also needed.
Our annual Winter Sing will be Wednesday, Dec. 22. This is an „all school‟ assembly. The capacity in our gym (by Fire Marshall order) is 600 – which is our student population. Sadly, we will not be able to invite parents to this event since regulations would not permit additional people. Thank you for understanding.
