Congratulations Helping Hands Club We are so proud of this year‟s Helping Hands Club, under the leadership of Mrs. Pamela Kerr and Mrs. Crista Horn. This year the club sponsored another successful canned food drive to help battle hunger in our community. They collected donations from Goshen families with a total accumulation of 1155 pounds of canned and boxed foods!!!!!! Their efforts are to be commended and we want all members of the club to be proud of what they have accomplished as a team to help families in our community. We thank the following 5th grade students who are members of the 2010-2011 Helping Hands Team:

Plan Ahead for Inclement Weather Briefly outlined below are the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Inclement Weather Procedures for school closings, delayed openings and early dismissals.

Closed Schools Schools may be closed when weather conditions are severe. You can access announcements in a variety of ways, but the quickest is to sign up through MCPS Quick Notes on the school‟s systems webpage at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org. You will receive an e-mail, text message or both directly to your cell phone as soon as an announcement is made. Others areas to access this information is County Cable Channel 6 and Cable Channel 34- MCPS TV, or check the website. Delayed Opening When conditions dictate, a two-hour delayed opening may be instituted. The delay of classes will be 2 hours. Classes at Goshen will begin at 11:15 a.m. Students may begin arriving to school at 11:00 on delayed openings. Breakfast is not served on delayed opening days. Early Closing Schools will be notified of early dismissal decisions by 11:00 a.m. on days where weather conditions develop during the morning and become severe enough to warrant an early closing. On these days, Goshen will dismiss after lunch at 1:00 p.m.

Please discuss with your children your families “plan” for delayed openings, early closings and closure of school for the day so they are prepared when inclement weather conditions happen. Please be sure to keep our main office informed of any change of phone numbers, daycare providers, others that are allowed to pick your children up from school, etc. in the event that your child is unclear as to where to go when schools close early. Remember that the best place to check for immediate school closings at any time is at the MCPS Website and also through MCPS Quick Notes.
