One possibility being looked at by the Road Safety Group and being debated by them with the Police is the use of Pelican Crossings, perhaps with bollard is- lands, on the A31. This is a dangerous stretch of road with 9 serious or fatal accidents along the Rop- ley section over the last 10 years. But first the road needs to be surveyed to determine the need, and though there is money available in the County
