Fuel Cost Fuel cost for the CNG buses is based on the commodity natural gas price paid by NYCT and an additional charge from Trillium USA to pay the operation and maintenance cost of the CNG fueling station. The average natural gas commodity price during the evaluation period was $0.96 per therm and the Trillium USA charge was $0.24 per therm for a total cost of $1.32 per therm or $1.78 per diesel energy equivalent gallon. The average diesel fuel cost—sulfur content less than 30 parts per million (ppm)—was $1.70 per gallon during the evaluation period. This translates
