  • Over the past month, the GRC has continued to work on behalf of the business

community by spending each Friday morning discussing important issues that have the potential to impact business at all levels. Recently, Donna Carpenter with Sikand Engineering was on hand to discuss proposed changes to the General Construction Storm Water Permit being considered by the State Water Resources Control Board. In addition to discussing several pieces of state legislation, the GRC also held a special lunch meeting during which former Assemblyman Keith Richman (pictured to the left) discussed a new foundation he is involved with called the Foundation for Fiscal Responsibility. This new foundation is working on qualifying a ballot initiative to reform public employee retirement plans in response to the skyrocketing costs that both the state and local governments are bearing to maintain the current system. Mr. Richman shared the provisions of the initative which is titled The Public Employee Benefits Reform Act and stated that the foundation is targeting November 2008 for placing this initiative on the ballot.
