as mix in a little fun along the way with our spring golf outing and next year’s annual banquet. One of the main goals this year will to be to increase our membership, which has declined over the past few years. We have had members retire, relocate, or choose for some other reason not to participate. I can not tell you how important a growing vibrant membership is to our chapter and it is essential that we all do our part to bring in good new members. In order for the chapter to continue to support education through scholarships and offer continuing education and certification to our members we must continually find and recruit new people in the concrete construction industry. I want to thank everyone for their help and support. The annual banquet was well attended, and my congratulations go out to the project award winners and our three scholarship recipients. The banquet is a great way to start the new year, and provides a unique opportunity to promote concrete and careers in concrete construction. I would like to thank our past president, Tom Busboom and departing members of the board of directors, for their service to the Nebraska Chapter of ACI. Next, I want to congratulate and thank our new board members and officers for the work they will continue to perform on behalf of your chapter. Last, but not least, I want to recognize the continued years of service of our executive secretary, Dick DeLorm. We are considered nationally as an outstanding chapter because of these people and the fact that you as members, see the benefits that the Nebraska Chapter offers to our local concrete industry. Education and certification will continue to be our primary objective. We will continue to offer breakfast seminars, co-sponsor local and national programs that pertain to concrete construction, as well Bob Irwin 2009 Chapter President Be sure to watch your mail for your membership renewals, announcements about upcoming seminars, and the spring golf outing. The new committee chairs are off to a fast start and already scheduled some excellent events.
