For being a group of committed, calm, and extremely legal individuals who all welcomed me despite my lack of ability to coherently explain myself and my research, I would first like to thank the Comissão Pastoral da Terra of Marabá, PA. I hope that one day I can be a human being as effective, collected, and committed to positive change as the CPT staff are.
Secondly, I give boundless thanks to the family of Angela and Roberto de Souza of Belém, PA, who made my time in Brazil what it was and cultivated a stress-free lifestyle that infiltrated my ISP attitude as well.
To my advisor Guilhermina Cayres, thank you for being an expert on research, for reassuring me at crucial movements, and for always being available despite having a life of your own.
I also owe a lot to the SIT staff who have allowed this entire process to happen and been very helpful in making it smoother and more survivable.
Finally and most fundamentally, thank you to my family in the States, for all your indescribable forms of influence and support.
I would say more, but doing so would only add overused statements of gratitude to these acknowledgments beyond the level required by their nature of being acknowledgments.
