C-1. Criteria for volunteers
Although positions are open to people of all sex, age, race, religion and ideology, it is necessary to point out some criteria for the selection of volunteers. During the application process you may come across volunteers who don't fit all the criteria, but still seem to be appropriate for doing the job. However, in all situations, careful attention should be given to the selection of volunteers, to avoid later problems. It is important to find the “right” volunteer for the “right” project - this is important for both the project and the volunteer. These are the recommendations for finding suitable volunteers for projects:
There is a minimum age of for a volunteer becoming a MTV or LTV. Volunteers are expected to have a certain amount of “life experience”, meaning that s/he can look after one’s self, work independently and be able to deal with problems that might occur during the time the volunteer is abroad.
No limitation of maximum age.
Understanding of project and organization
The applicant should be open-minded towards the project and motivated for the WORK of the project (not only for a travelling experience).
The applicant should understand the condition of program and can stand to live in basic conditions.
Preferably the volunteer should have workcamp experience or volunteer work or activities before.
Respecting the local culture, habits and people
Basic verbal communication skill
Ability of self management
(inform your condition to the organization and also be aware of health condition
in the country)
