Philosophical Ponderings by Ron End of the year activities . . .
It’s hard to believe that another year is almost gone and it’s time to put a new calendar on the wall. Where does the time go?
For the members of the Greater Cincinnati Philatelic Society, the end of the year presents an opportunity to get together over a meal and enjoy some fellowship and good times away from the normal meeting venue. See the story on the first page for all the details. I hope to see you there.
Remember that we will not have any formal meetings in December. The Holiday Party is the only event that we have in December. Linn’s Subscriptions . . .
Again this year I worked with Adolf Leder, who contacted mem- bers of the Clermont County Stamp Club, and we ended up with 27 of our members who renewed their sub- scription, or started a new one to Linn’s at $23.00, which is less than half of the normal rate. It’s just one of many benefits of being a member of the Greater Cincinnati Philatelic Society.
Those members of the GCPS who took advantage of the offer are: Richard Andler, James Ariss, Ray- mond Buse, Jim Cochrane, V.N. Dasappannair, James Keely, Doug Guenther, Webster Hall, Mike Klein- tank, Walter Lindley, Ron Maifeld, Winfield Neiman, Elmer Poock, Kenneth Reed, Louis Schubert, James Siekermann, Robert Stocker, Arnold Wasserman and Ralph Weil.
There is still time to take advan- tage of the offer is you missed the first cut-off, or if I missed someone. APS Circuit Books. . .
We continue on a roll with sales in September of $129.23 and in Oc- tober of $133.29. Preliminary sales for this month are already over $150.
NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2007 Maifeld
The new selection of circuit books in- cludes six U.S. and a Canal Zone.
South of the border is represented by the Latin West Indies, Nicaragua, Salva- dor and Venezuela.
Scandinavia has three books. There are single books from Germany, India States and China.
There are two Canadian books, one which contains New Foundland and recent Canadian stamps for sale at a bargain well under face.
In addition to the club circuits, I’ll have three other circuits consisting of Iceland and two United States circuits, one of which has coils, including PNCs, and the other has general mint and used. That’s a total of 27 U.S. books this month. The three latter books need to go in the mail on Tues- day, so bring your lists. Wine n Cheese Party . . .
Another successful event with a good crowd! Thanks to Mike and Teresa Kleintank for spearheading the food preparation. There was more than enough to eat and plenty left over to take home. I’m looking forward to doing it again next year.
New Member . . .
Welcome to Stephen Woods, of the Cincinnati area, who joined GCPS last month. Steve was one of the winners of the Major Door Prizes at CINPEX and accepted our offer to join the Greater Cincinnati Philatelic Society. He is also an APS member. Thanks . . .
to Walt Lindley for volunteering to take over as APS Representative for Rick Wilkens who had to step aside for personal reasons. Thanks also to everyone who has worked so hard this year to make GCPS the success that it is, with the result of NO dues increase again.
