2003 SPECIFICATIONS

SECTION 109

Example I. Using the conversion factors calculated in Figure 109-11 convert 2,741,293 Lbs. of Aggregate, with less than 5% moisture content, to equivalent cubic yards:

2741283 = 1370.642 Tons 2000

1370.642 Tons x 0.712 Cu. Yds./Ton = 975.9 Cu. Yds. Use 976 Cu. Yds.

Example II. Using the conversion factors calculated in Figure 109-11, convert 2,819.610 Lbs. of Aggregate, moisture content of 8%, to equivalent cubic yards.

2819610 = 1409.805 Tons 2000

1409.805 x 105 = 1370.644 Tons 108

1370.644 Tons x 0.712 Cu. Yds./Ton =975.9 Cu. Yds. Use 976 Cu. Yds.

Example III. Using the conversion factors calculated in Figure 109-11, convert 958.5 Cu. Yds. of Aggregate (from Roadway Inspector's Record) to equivalent tons.

958.5 Cu. Yds. x 1.406 Tons/Cu. Yds. = 1347.65 Tons Use 1348 Tons

(Note: Moisture Content correction not needed when converting cubic yards to equivalent tons.)
