122.03 Servicing.

Vehicles shall be kept reasonably clean and properly

serviced. Servicing should be performed in accordance with the AHTD Preventive Maintenance Program. Oil, gasoline, servicing and tire repairs must be obtained at the maintenance garages unless it is an emergency purchase. Field offices in the vicinity of the district office should have these services performed at the District garage. Resident Engineer personnel are expected to perform oil changes and minor servicing themselves.

122.04 Use of Department-owned Vehicles. Department-owned vehicles shall be used for Department business purposes only. Unauthorized use may subject the employee to discharge or suspension.

122.05 Accidents. When a Department vehicle is involved in an accident, the operator must file a complete report with the Department. Reports are required for each accident regardless of amount of the damage incurred. The report shall include as much detail as possible to assist the Department in determining liability for the accident. The report should include the name and address of the operator of any other vehicle involved and his insurance carrier, as well as names and addresses of any witnesses. The proper

The Department operator should not express an opinion in regard to liability. Department employees must cooperate with proper legal authorities by furnishing correct answers to any questions they may ask concerning the accident.

An employee may be required to pay for damage sustained to a Department owned vehicle operated in a careless manner or for unauthorized purposes.

All drivers should carry liability and property damage insurance covering their operation of Department vehicles. At the present time, this is not mandatory, but such
