Global Energy Demand  

Global energy demand is projected to grow by 1.6 percent annually, on average, from 2000 and 2030 -- resulting in a 60 percent increase from 2000 to 2030.

Energy demand is projected to grow fastest in the developing world (Non-OECD) in the coming decades, accounting for around 80 percent of the global increase.

Global population will grow to approximately 8 billion in 2030 from about 6.5 billion today, with close to 95 percent of the increase occurring in the developing world.

The world's economy is projected to grow at an annual rate of 2.8 percent through 2030, doubling in size from 2000.

Fossil fuels will continue to provide approximately 80 percent of global energy supplies in 2030, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the International Energy Agency.

Total transportation demand for liquids in 2030 is expected to increase by 50 percent from today.
