when it’s appropriate to use them. Students use the technology to create simulations, develop mathematical models, create graphics, formulate conjectures, and immediately test them. This technology helps students to solve problems based on real-world situations.
The IMP curriculum also includes comprehensive Teacher Guides for each of the twenty units of instruction. They provide support for teachers, including helping them understand the important mathematical ideas of the
curriculum. Particular attention is paid to those topic areas that are new to the secondary mathematics curriculum. These guides include suggestions to help teachers assist students with a range of mathematical experiences and learning styles develop mathematical understanding. They also include suggestions to help teachers with ways to encourage mathematical communication, and suggestions about how to use technology effectively.
