The class will then come back together as a whole and briefly discuss the centers. The teacher should also ask what center they liked the most and what they didn’t like.

Have children go back to their seats to draw and color a picture of each form of matter. (Note: For gas they may draw objects that use gas such as a balloon or a ball)

Theories:

-Choice Theory-children are choosing what object to draw inside each category.

-Cognitive Theory-using what they know about matter and using it to help complete assignment.

Methods:

-Problem Based-Learning-taking what they learned and applying it to assignment.

-Integrated or Thematic Instruction-students are taking knowledge of science and having to draw each state.

Further Investigation

-Matter Graphic Organizer

To further their understanding on matter, have children work together at their own seats on the matter graphic organizer. (See attached handout)
