A member of Bemidji State Universi- ty’s foundation board, Sorensen draws upon his college experiences to shape the future of others. “I’ve been very fortunate, and when you’re fortunate, you have an obligation to give back,” he says.
Sorensen is helping students experi- ence and develop abilities through the Sorensen Leadership Scholar- ships, which he and wife Kathryn recently endowed. The scholarships are awarded to those who demonstrate initiative, commitment, and a desire to expand their leadership capabilities while focusing on social and commu- nity betterment.
He hopes that what he gives back to Bemidji State will, in turn, produce pas- sionate individuals who are energized to lead, direct change, and make posi- tive impacts in a spirit of cooperation.
“one of life’s biggest lessons is per- haps that we can learn and get to better places, in better ways, through conflict-free expression, respect for the perspectives of others, and mostly col- laboration.”
Meet Nikki, Nick, and Anna.
