Ellsworth Sourcewater Protection Plan December 2004 Rev. September 2005 Page 24 of 63

Under the current SWPP, a team of stakeholders was formed to develop a sourcewater protection plan. Areas of concern identified by the stakeholders include erosion and sedimentation to the lake, septic systems, security of the water system, effectiveness of state and local environmental protection laws, recreational use of the lake, public access, development in the watershed (particularly along the shoreline and on steep slopes), and the need for continued education and outreach. The PCS inventory was updated under this program.

The Water Department currently has a high capacity to influence its vulnerability to PCSs for Branch Lake. Because this capacity is dependent on factors such as local support and the ability to remain current in sourcewater protection practices, it may change with time.
