Crafters, vendors needed for festival
Taltree Arboretum offers fall classes
Crafters, vendors and flea marketers are needed for the upcoming Fall Festival at Church of the Four Seasons, United Methodist, 9100 E. 109th Ave. in Winfield. The Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 17. Those interested in renting a booth or who need more information, contact Barb at 226-0369 or 219-713-3610.
Taltree Arboretum and Gardens will offer the following classes this fall. Class size is limited, so register early. Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in Taltree’s classroom, 71 North 500 West, just east of Winfield.

Raptor and Wildlife Rehabilitation: 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 17. Learn how to raise and care for orphaned, injured or diseased wildlife from retired naturalist and licensed raptor rehabilitator Carol Riewe, and Larry McAfee, veterinarian and li- censed wildlife rehabilita- tor. This class will be held in the Meyer Pavilion inside Taltree.
Wood Carving Basics from a pro: 1 to 3 p.m.,
Oct. 24. Learn the feel of carving a 3-D item in soap and perfect the art of basic shaping techniques from carver Barb Ziolkowski. Learn shaping of simple carvings, and how to round edges with specialized tools.
Barb has been carving for more than 14 years and spe- cializes in ornaments, bottle stoppers and wear- able art. Participants must bring a carving (or paring) knife and a large bar of Ivory soap.

Public and Alumni invited to Celebrate 40th Anniversary!
Creative Hair Styling Academy (formerly Creative Beauty Academy) is hosting an Open House, Fashion Show and Career Fair on Monday, September 28, 2009 in celebration of its 40th anniversary and Creative’s looking for as many alumni as possible.
The day’s event will begin with an Open House at the Academy from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. We will then move the festivities to St. James Hall,
located at 9640 KennedyAvenue, Highland, Indiana for a fashion show entitled “Decades of Fashion”.
The evening celebration will be held from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm and include a brief history of the Academy, acknowledging its founders, as well as hosting a Career Fair with many of our industry partners.
The Open House is free. Tickets for the “Decades of Fashion” show are only $5.00 and
can be purchased at theAcademy in advance.
