Make we joy now in this fest!
Conductor Harry Christophers
Programme to include:
Tallis Gloria from Mass ‘Puer natus’
Christmas arrives early with this evening of carols from the 15th and 16th centuries. Featuring popular carols of the time – both sacred and secular – the programme shows how Christmas music evolved during this period. The singers will be accompanied by the triptych of instruments often seen depicted on nativity Christmas cards played by angels, namely the lute, harp and rebec.
Ravenscroft Remember O thou man
Byrd Lullaby my sweet little babe
After twenty-eight years of worldwide performance and recording, The Sixteen is recognised as one of the world’s greatest ensembles, whose total commitment to the music is its greatest distinction.
