Atomic Force Microscopy based Monitoring of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion of Aluminium-Magnesium Alloys

Abstract

Project Idea is to use atomic force microscopy (AFM) to qualitatively and quantitatively describe microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) of aluminium-magnesium alloys. Our preliminary results with fungi MIC demonstrate capabilities of AFM to quantify localized surface corrosion and to study MIC dynamics.
