About the area
If you are a key worker relocating to the area or looking for a more affordable home, this guide is intended to inform you of all of the options available.
The document gives information on housing options for key workers within the boundaries of Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex local councils within the county of West Sussex. It is a popular and attractive area, but housing is relatively expensive. There is a mixture of large rural villages and medium sized towns; East Grinstead, and Crawley to the north, Horsham to the west, Burgess Hill to the south and Haywards Heath near to the centre (See map below).
The area has excellent transport links with regular direct trains to London, Brighton and the Sussex Coast. The M23/A23 London to Brighton road runs straight through the centre of the area. There is a wide range of employment, with Gatwick Airport driving substantial economic activity.
